David O’Shea joined Aer Lingus (the Irish National Airline) straight from school. His initial training was completed in Oxford Air Training in Oxford, England in 1967. He returned to Dublin and flew as a copilot on Vichers Vicount and Boeing 737s. He also spent five years as a systems pilot on B707s and B747s. He was promoted captain on B737 in 1982. He entered training and was a TRI/TRE on B737. He was appointed Fleet Manager on B737s and rose to Deputy Director of Flight Operations.
He ended his flying career with 8 years on the A330. For the past 6 years he has been involved with aviation consultancy with many airlines and corporations. This work has included IOSA audits and advice on flight operations, security, dispatch and cabin operations management.
